CAMS STUDENTS DID IT - Principal Has PINK Hair!
Ms. Renee Smith, Cheney Academy's Principal, offered a "special" incentive for her students to reach a goal of reading 1,000 books during the month of March. Well, it is with GREAT PLEASURE to announce that Cheney students not only reached this goal but exceeded it for a total of over 3000 books read!

Because of this, Ms. Smith kept her end of the deal by adding permanent pink dye to her hair! Ms. Smith ROCKS and so does all Cheney students! Job well done.

Sweet Dreamzzz for ALL Cheney Students

It was not an ordinary day at Cheney Academy on February 25th! If you happen to stop by, you would have seen students and teachers wearing their pajamas, even the principal, Ms. Smith, had her P.J’s on.

Cheney Academy had the special opportunity for Sweat Dreamzzz to come visit our school.
Sweet Dreamzzz is a non-profit organization that comes to schools to educate children about the benefits of sleep and the appropriate steps in getting ready for bed. They taught us how to get R.E.A.D.Y for bed.

EVERY child received a back pack with a T-shirt, pair of socks, tooth brush, tooth paste, crayons, coloring page, stuffed animal, and 2 books. They also received a FREE sleeping bag!
Students were on their best behavior and were very appreciative for their gifts. Thank you Sweet Dreamzzz for the lesson and gifts!

The Ann Arbor Hands On Museum brought several different science activities for Cheney's Science Night. The students were able to enjoy many experiments.

CAMS VISION and GOALS
Cheney Academy provides an atmosphere where we: welcome, love, nurture and respect all children!

Since children learn at different rates and in different ways, the staff at Cheney will help all children achieve success in an atmosphere of affection, praise, and encouragement. The staff is dedicated to providing an instructional program which will allow each child to learn and to develop to his/her capacity. In each classroom we:

•Recognize each child as a unique individual in a variety of ways.
•Show respect, cooperation politeness, and courtesy to others.
•Provide a climate in which learning is valued, joyous, and a successful experience.
•Reinforce the basic educational skills.
•Take a hands-on approach to learning.
•Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of children.
•Provide additional assistance for individual special needs.
•Involve children in the learning process.

We believe that a quality education is a fundamental right of every child. All children will receive respect, encouragement and opportunities they need to build the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to be successful, contributing members of a changing global society.
